It is an interesting time to join Sunweb, even though the travel business has had a troublesome year. Sunweb is owned by Triton Investments, who have a long term strategy and thus are making sure that Sunweb remains financially stable. Now that the industry is regaining strength Sunweb is interested in acquiring other travel agencies in these dynamic times. This will bring lots of new projects and opportunities. Besides this there are also other interesting dynamics in the finance department, such as the recent implementation of Lucanet as a consolidation tool and the transition from Dutch GAAP to IFRS.

What is your role about?

They are looking for someone to join their Financial Control team, currently consisting of 4 Financial Controllers. In your daily work, you will work closely together within a team of 22 finance professionals from their office based in Rotterdam. Within this function you play a central role in the consolidation process and related financial reporting’s, to ensure high quality deliverables. You are not afraid of challenging the status quo, because you often see chances and room for improvements. You make impact by professionalizing the reporting and consolidation for the Sunweb Group, as 40% of the role will be project based on improvements, implementations, integrations, etc..

As a Consolidation & Reporting Specialist you will play a key role within their financial processes. Amongst others, you will be involved in the following areas:

  • Owner of the (monthly) consolidation process in which you play a key role in ensuring on time reporting;
  • Perform the monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidations and compile the required reporting packages under group accounting standards based on IFRS;
  • Monthly analysis of the results and preparation of fixed and ad-hoc reports and presentations thereof;
  • Support the Statutory Reporting process;
  • Validating intercompany eliminations and ensure proper intercompany recharges;
  • Integrate the monthly forecast process within Lucanet in cooperation with the financial control team;
  • Assist in exploring and implementing further possibilities of Lucanet;
  • Monitor compliance of the transactions within our various entities in accordance with the transfer pricing agreements of the group;
  • Understand and assist in ensuring compliance of the local requirements of the legal entities within our legal structure;
  • Supporting the tax manager in providing correct figures in order to be able to prepare tax calculations;
  • Supporting the treasurer in providing financial information for compliance with external stakeholders as banks and guarantee funds;
  • Supporting the finance team in the integration (or divestment) of acquisitions.


Their new colleague has a clear hands-on mentality and is eager to both spot improvement areas and bring a first solution to the table. Common sense with respect to the financial statement processes is more important than deep accounting (Dutch GAAP or IFRS) knowledge.

  • At least a master degree in finance, business administration, or similar;
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar position with ambition to learn and grow within our organization, or experience at a Big4 firm;
  • Critical thinking skills, great communication skills, and highly motivated;
  • Knowledge of Excel, Lucanet and EXACT (or another consolidation and ERP system) is a pre;
  • Fluently in Dutch or English is a must;
  • And above all: a passionate traveler!
